Theresa May is constantly scrutinised for her fashion choices whilst in fact her style’s rather low-key: Theresa May wears the clothes she likes.
As Gaby recalls in the interview, ‘That’s just something that happens, and you accept that. But it doesn’t stop me from going out and enjoying fashion. And I also think it’s important to be able to show that a woman can do a job like this and still be interested in clothes.’
She has no style advisors and she shops in independent boutiques. She loves fashion, she loves shopping, and despite having journalists commenting on what she wears whenever she appears in public, Theresa’s not troubled by their scrutiny. She wears what she feels suits and she vary rarely wears things once, she doesn’t see the point.
When she’s not in the public eye, May can be found wearing more simple and comfortable clothes from independent shops like egg. In this April’s US Vogue, photographed by Annie Liebovitz, the Tory leader can be seen walking in an autumnal field dressed in a Henry coat by egg and a cashmere jumper by Sine for egg, with her husband, Phillip May.
